R.I.P. Prince. 2016 is truly a weird year. After David Bowie a few months before, another legend has disappeared suddenly (for us at least), shocking the world all the more as 57 years old is a young age to leave in this era.
I cannot stop thinking of the songs I have not only grown up with but danced on and that were written by Prince. It is not just about moving in an unpremeditated way, I am talking about whole choreographies not just for our own entertainment and pleasure but even for marks during assessed sports. Cream was the song that inspired us and the moves that were shaped.
He was a symbol of sexy and spoke to that erotic chord both in the lover and in the artist in us, that get us to let our emotions out and create others just to match a participative soundtrack for our feelings.
Purple Rain, the featured video, is quite the work of a genius, in its composition, instrumentation and arrangements. But Purple Rain and Cream are not his only chefs d’oeuvre. Sinead O’Connor’s rendition of Nothing Compares To You brought our artist’s intricate songwriting to light although his own version was already quite the chef d’oeuvre. The video of Kiss and Work It started to give us an idea of the chill you’ve got from the song. The Most Beautiful Girl in the world made every lady feel special for the time the hit was at the top 😉
The Sexy Motherf***’s writer was writing an autobiography it seems especially since that title so easily crowned his style and his genius. It is genius indeed to write as poignantly as When Doves Cry, Diamonds and Pearls, as instrumented as Little Red Corvette, 1999, as fun and indeed crazy as Let’s go Crazy. From the beginning, this artist has injected fun, freedom and sexiness in the expression and performance of music and his legacy and liberated the hidden expression within his listeners. R.I.P. Prince.
